# Import and export addon lists

> Move your addons to another computer, or share them, with an addon string.

WowUp can turn the list of addons installed for a game version into a piece of text, an addon string. Import it to install the same addons on another computer, keep it to restore your setup later, or share it with a friend.

## Opening Import/Export

Open the menu at the right end of the My Addons toolbar and choose **Import/Export Addons**.

## Export

The **Export** tab shows the addon string for the selected game version. Copy it and keep it, or send it wherever you need it.

The string only lists addons. It has nothing that identifies you, so it's safe to share.

## Import

On the **Import** tab, paste an addon string, with the paste button or your keyboard, then select **Import**.

> [!NOTE]
> Import a string into the same kind of game version it came from. A string from Retail works on Retail or a Retail PTR, but not on Classic.

## Installing

WowUp compares the string with what you have and lists each addon:

- **New** addons get the latest version when you select **Install**.
- **No Change** addons are already installed, and are left as they are.
- **Conflict** addons are installed already but differ, for example in version or source. WowUp says why, and leaves them alone.

> [!NOTE]
> A string can include addons from Wago or CurseForge, and each WowUp edition includes only one of them. If a string needs the other one, WowUp tells you which edition to install.
