# Managing addons

> Addon details, auto update, channels, switching sources, and the rest of the right-click menu.

Right-click an addon on My Addons for most of what you can do with it: change its channel, set it to update on its own, ignore it, and more.

## Addon details

Click an addon's name, or double-click its row, to open its details. They have up to three tabs:

- **Description**, with a link to the addon's page at its source.
- **Changelog**, for sources that publish one.
- **Previews**, screenshots from sources that have them.

## Auto update

Right-click an addon and check **Auto Update** to have WowUp install its updates for you. WowUp checks every hour, and addons set to auto update show an icon in their row.

To turn on auto update for every addon in a game version, including ones you install later, use [Options › Clients](https://wowup.io/guide/options/wow-clients).

## Channels

Authors can publish test versions before a stable release. To get them, right-click an addon, open **Channel** and pick **Beta** or **Alpha**.

A channel is the least stable version you'll accept, not the only one you'll get. On Alpha, WowUp installs whichever release is newest, which is often a stable one. That way you aren't left on an old alpha when an author stops publishing them after a patch.

> [!NOTE]
> Channels work for sources that publish test versions: the WowUp Hub, Wago and CurseForge.

## Switching sources

Some addons are published in more than one place. Those show a source icon in their row, and you can move them between sources: right-click the addon and open **Providers**.

Switching is the same as removing the addon and installing it from the other source, in one step.

> [!NOTE]
> This works when the author lists the addon's other sources in its TOC file, with fields such as `X-Wago-ID`, `X-Curse-Project-ID` or `X-WoWI-ID`.

## Ignore

Check **Ignore** to stop WowUp from updating an addon, for example one you've changed yourself or one that's no longer maintained.

Addons installed from a plain zip file link are always ignored, since WowUp has nowhere to check for updates.

## Re-Install, Show Folder and Remove

- **Re-Install** installs the same version again.
- **Show Folder** opens the addon's folder.
- **Remove** deletes the addon and all of its folders.

## Warnings

An addon gets a warning when something goes wrong at its source, usually because the source removed or blocked it. WowUp tells you what went wrong, but doesn't ignore the addon, since the source may fix it.
